This page will walk you through the steps of making a TOG character. You can get the character sheet here.

NATURES
Roll a d10 and
take the nature with the corresponding number on the positive nature table.
Then do the same for the negative nature table. If you get two with the same
number, roll for the negative again. Your positive nature goes in the …pretty
____... spot and the negative nature goes in the other one.
Positive Natures
1. Daring (one
additional EV per level to Guts)
2. Athletic (one
additional EV per level to Speed)
3. Tough (one
additional EV per level to Toughness)
4. Smart (one
additional EV per level to Smarts)
5. Strong (one
additional EV per level to Power)
6. Hot (one additional
EV per level to Sex Appeal)
7. Nice (+2 to
all beginning relationships)
8. Fashionable
(+2 Style)
9. Perceptive
(one additional EV per level to Senses)
10. Intense (one
additional EV per level to Will)
Negative Natures (roleplay only)
1. A pussy
2. Awkward
3. Overbearing
4. Fickle
5. Shy
6. Obsessive
7. A douche/bitch
8. Lazy
9. Oblivious
10. A follower
STATS N STUFF
To determine your
stats, roll a d10 for each stat in any order you want. No re-rolls. If the
average of your stats is not less than 6.5 and more than 3.5, add or subtract
points from whatever stats you want until it is. Then add in any bonuses from
natures. HP is 25 + Toughness x 2. MP is 25 + Will x 2. Shift is your Speed;
Run is 15 + Speed x 5. Make sure to update these any time your stats change.
EQUIPMENT
You should equip
your character with Fashion and Weapons/Instruments according to your class. Every character starts with $250 to
spend. The weapon block is pretty self-explanatory. The melee stat is power and
the ranged stat is senses. To get your Style score, first put +’s in two of the
check boxes which you think you will use a lot of. Then put an X in one you
won’t use. The ones with the + get multiplied by 2, while the one with the X
gets divided by 2. Then tally up how many of each you have. Do the
multiplying/dividing thing and then add up all of them. That number is your
Total Style. Yeah, it’s kind of complicated. You’ll get it. Your Armor score is
equal to the AR bonus from all your clothes + your Toughness (unless your class
says otherwise).
RELATIONSHIPS & THE HEART GAUGE
Don’t worry about
them (they’re explained in other posts). In This One Game, Paragon Tier is
getting a girlfriend/boyfriend, and Epic Tier is getting a job. Just make sure
you X the little circle next to the heart. That’s important.
PARTY CONSTRUCTION
There are four
categories of classes. These are Brawler, Support, Distance, and Opportunist. Brawlers specialize in focusing in on
one enemy at a time and just unloading on them. They are the main damage
dealers and takers, so they’re right
in the middle of the fight. They are also the best at playing off others’
attacks. Support characters are
built to do exactly what their name would suggest: make everyone else’s’ lives
easier. They slip in and out of combat before anyone can deal much damage to
them. Ninjas supply supplemental damage to like, everyone everywhere, whereas
Cheerleaders heal and bolster the members of the party taking and dealing the
most damage. Distance characters
stay out of the fray and attack from across the battlefield. Mostly they have
high-damage single attacks, though if a Distance character happens to find
themselves in the middle of a fight, they can Dash Attack their way out. Opportunists are very good at ruining
your entire day. Their attacks consist almost entirely of Set-Ups and Combos,
so if they fight alongside a Brawler, they can smack down anyone sent flying or
destroy anyone lucky enough to become stunned. They are also solid
damage-dealers by themselves, though, since they can use any weapon, promoting
ranged + melee configurations.
It is recommended
that you have at least one Brawler and one Supporter in every party, but this
is entirely up to you. Once you get a handle on the fighting mechanics, you may
opt for a strategic configuration for maximum team combo awesomeness, but the
first time you play, it’s a good idea to have one of each (BSDO).
That’s pretty much it. Everything not explained here will be in another post.
